How to remove a watermark from a photo for free

  1. Choose your photo. Open the editor's Photo tab and select a JPG, PNG, or WebP file. You can also try the sample before using your own image.
  2. Mark the whole watermark. Drag a box around the logo or text. Include every visible stroke and a small margin of clean background. On a phone, drag directly on the preview.
  3. Choose a cleanup method. Start with “Repair with nearby pixels” for a small mark on a simple background. Choose “Soften with blur” when concealing the area is enough.
  4. Review and download. Select “Clean up photo,” then compare Original and Result. Select “Download PNG” to save the edited photo for free when you are satisfied. Changing a selection lets you try again.

Tips for cleaning a visible image watermark

Repair works best over sky, painted walls, or gently changing color. These areas offer useful clues about the pixels surrounding a mark. A tight box gives the editor more relevant background to work with. Avoid selecting a large part of the scene when only a small corner needs attention.

If a watermark has several separated parts, mark them with separate boxes. Overlapping selections combine into one visible box. Use Undo or Clear to correct a selection. Include any faint shadow or outline around the lettering; leaving those pixels outside the box can leave a visible trace.

Inspect the downloaded image at its actual size. A repair that looks smooth in a small preview may be softer when enlarged. The editor may resize large photos to keep processing manageable; check the file information before exporting.

Before and after: a small corner watermark

After nearby-pixel repairThe same demonstration after Clear Photo Video repairs the lower-right label; TEST FOOTAGE at lower left remains unchanged.
This generated demonstration uses an actual download from the editor. Only the lower-right label was selected. Repair blends nearby colors into that area, leaving a smoother patch; it cannot restore the exact detail hidden by the label. Results on detailed photos will vary.

What the editor can reconstruct

Clear Photo Video uses traditional image repair: it interpolates and blends surrounding pixels into the selected area. It does not use a machine learning model to invent new scene details. Blur averages pixels to soften the marked area instead.

An opaque mark hides information. Repair cannot recover the exact original pixels behind it. Watermarks across faces, hair, lettering, straight edges, or detailed textures can leave a soft patch or interrupt a pattern. An original unmarked image gives the most faithful result.
